Your own work, never Nord’s sounds
Section titled “Your own work, never Nord’s sounds”The line is who made it, not the file type:
- Your programs and presets describe settings. They refer to the samples and pianos they use, but contain no audio. They are your own work. ✅
- Samples and pianos you made yourself (for example, recorded from your own instruments) are your own work too. ✅
- Nord’s factory sounds and sample libraries belong to their owner. OpenNord never hosts, sends or redistributes them. ❌
When OpenNord lists the factory samples a program uses, it names them and links to Nord’s own free downloads. It never ships the audio itself.
Your own instrument, on your own machine
Section titled “Your own instrument, on your own machine”Reading anything from your own Nord to your own computer, factory sounds included, and looking at it or editing it there, is personal use of your own device, the same thing Nord Sound Manager does when it backs up your keyboard. It stays on your machine.
Your files stay with you
Section titled “Your files stay with you”Your programs, samples and pianos are opened on your own device. OpenNord never uploads them.
License
Section titled “License”OpenNord is free and open source under the GNU AGPL-3.0-or-later. Credits and the licenses of the open-source projects it uses are in the repository.
No warranty
Section titled “No warranty”OpenNord is beta software, provided as is, with no warranty (AGPL-3.0, sections 15–16). Writing to your Nord replaces what is in that place. Back up your keyboard first.
